Bicycle Puncture Repair
- Turn bike upside down
- BACK WHEEL: Change gears to smallest cogs
- Loosen brakes
- Loosen wheel nut, handle side only
- BACK WHEEL: Pull derailleur backwards
- Lift wheel out
- Take cap off/unscrew pin, let remaining air out
- Tyre leaver underneath opposite valve, attach to spoke
- Second lever work and track around until tyre is off
- Remove valve nut, push valve through on the tyre lever side
- Remove inner tube
- Rag wipe around tyre, check for glass
- Check wheel, spokes, tape
- New inner tube, inflate a little
- Valve back through into tyre, harder side
- Hands only, feed the inner tube into the tyre
- Start at the valve, ensure tyre is in deeply
- Work your way round the tyre.
- Before the last difficult bit, push the valve into the rim, squeeze the tire together, then push in deeply. With the other hand, thumb the tyre on the opposite side in
- Push around to see nothing is pinched, ensure the valve is perpendicular
- Inflate the tube fully to the indicated pressure
- Valve nut!
- Tighten valve, put on dust cap
- Wheel back onto bike, ensure it's pointing the right direction
- Tighten wheel nut, handle only
- Tighten brakes
